Melmerby Play & Pre-school

Welcome to our website

Melmerby Play and Pre-School is held in Melmerby Village Hall which is a bright and spacious setting, with a secure outdoor area. We have a wide variety of resources available both indoors and outdoors.

There are 24 places for children aged between 2 years and 4 years old. We have caring, dedicated, qualified staff. We welcome children of all backgrounds, abilities and nationalities, and once your child is 2 years old they may start as soon as a place is available. It is not necessary for children to be potty trained to start at Pre-school.

We are registered members of the Pre-school Learning Alliance and are inspected by Ofsted. We accept government funding for 3 and 4 year olds.

We received an excellent Ofsted Report in our most recent inspection in April 2009. We provide a fun learning environment to help children develop their personal, emotional and social skills; their communication, pre-reading and pre-writing skills; counting, number recognition, size, shape and problem solving skills; creative skills, including music, art, model making; physical skills, movement and balance; knowledge and understanding of the world around them.

Parents are able to see their child's progress through our termly parents meetings during which we share the child's individual learning journey book.

Children who attend our Pre-school go on to attend Baldersby, Burneston, Pickhill, Ripon and Sharow Primary Schools.
