About Us

Melmerby Play and Pre-School is a registered charity and is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance. It is run by a Committee, elected at the AGM in the Autumn Term. All Parents are eligible to stand for Committee posts and to attend the AGM. Please remember that without a Committee the Pre-school cannot operate. The Committee is responsible for Pre-school finances, equipment, staffing and the upholding of policies. We hold half-termly committee meetings, and all parents are welcome to attend. We encourage all parents to get involved in Pre-school in both large and small ways.

We produce a newsletter each term to keep everyone informed of what is happening and to report on social and fundraising events. Any skills that Parents/Carers may have that may be of interest to the children are always welcome. Also parents are always welcome to help at Playgroup.

Staff

Alison Burniston

Alison Burniston is our Pre-school Leader. She holds a Diploma in Pre-school Practice (level 3), and a Certificate in Early Years First Aid. Alison lives in Kirklington and has 2 children at Burneston C of E Primary School, both of whom attended Melmerby Play Pre-school.

Carol Gayle

Carol Gayle is our Pre-school assistant. She lives at Burneston with her children, the youngest of which attended Melmerby Play & Pre-school. She is undertaking her NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Learning and Development.
